Ceramic Implants in Belgrade

DentalVortex dental clinic in Belgrade offers placement of modern Neodent ceramic (zirconia) implants — a completely metal-free, biocompatible, and hypoallergenic alternative to titanium that delivers outstanding aesthetics for front teeth with no metal showing through the gums.

Ceramic implants are a modern, metal-free alternative to classic titanium implants. They are made of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), a material known for its exceptional biocompatibility and aesthetic properties. If you have lost a tooth and are looking for a solution that looks natural, contains no metal, and integrates well with your body, a ceramic implant is an option worth considering.

At DentalVortex clinic in Belgrade, we place Neodent ceramic implants — one of the leading systems on the market. The result is a ceramic implant that looks and functions just like a natural tooth.

What Are Ceramic Implants

Ceramic implants are made of zirconium dioxide, more commonly known as zirconia. This is a ceramic material that is bioinert, meaning the body does not recognize it as a foreign object and does not react to it. It does not corrode, does not release ions into the surrounding tissue, and does not cause electrogalvanic reactions that are characteristic of metals.

At DentalVortex, we use the Neodent zirconia implant, which is manufactured in German laboratories under specific pressure and sintered at high temperatures to achieve its final hardness. This implant is two-piece, allowing the portion in the bone and the portion above the gum to be joined by a reliable ZiLOCK connection. This design prevents rotational movement and offers greater placement flexibility compared to older, one-piece systems.

Implant Placement – Step by Step

The ceramic implant placement procedure is carried out in stages and in most cases takes between four and six months from the first visit to the placement of the permanent tooth.

1

3D Diagnostics

The first step is a CBCT scan of the jaw. Based on the 3D scan, we assess bone quality, the position of nerves and sinuses, and determine whether you are a candidate for this type of implant.

2

Surgical Placement

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless. The implant is placed into the bone, after which a healing period (osseointegration) follows, lasting 4 to 6 months.

3

Prosthetic Phase

After osseointegration, we take digital impressions using an intraoral scanner. Based on the scan, a precise zirconia crown is computer-designed and placed on the implant.

Ceramic vs. Titanium Implants – What Is the Difference

Both materials are biocompatible, but ceramic implants offer specific advantages for certain groups of patients.

Ceramic Implants

  • Completely metal-free and hypoallergenic
  • White color prevents show-through at the gum line
  • Less attractive to dental plaque and deposits
  • Superior aesthetics for front teeth

Titanium Implants

  • The standard in implantology for decades
  • Ideal for the posterior region and high bite forces
  • The only solution for All-on-4/6 systems
  • Possible slight show-through with thin gums

Who Are Ceramic Implants the Right Solution For

Although they can be placed in most patients with healthy gums and sufficient bone, they are especially recommended for the following groups:

  • Patients with an allergy or sensitivity to metals.
  • Individuals who want an exclusively metal-free approach to treatment.
  • Patients for whom aesthetics are a priority for front teeth.
  • Individuals with thin or translucent gums where metal could create a grayish tint in the gums.

Note: Ceramic implants are currently not recommended for molars (back teeth) due to extreme chewing forces, nor for restorations replacing all teeth in the jaw (All-on-4).

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Some mild discomfort after the procedure is possible, which resolves with standard analgesics within a few days.
With proper hygiene and regular check-ups, they can last a lifetime. The health of the bone and surrounding tissue is key.
They are best suited for the anterior region (incisors and canines) and premolars, where their white color and aesthetics are most apparent.
If the implant has achieved sufficient primary stability, it is possible to place a temporary crown the same day so you are not without a tooth during the healing period.
