What Are Removable Prosthetics on Implants

These are reliable dentures that are attached to implants in the jaw using special connecting elements (attachments). They are still removable, which means the patient can remove them and maintain hygiene themselves, but they are much more stable and functional in the mouth than ordinary dentures. They are intended for patients who have no teeth and do not have enough ridge in the jaw for a denture to be held by suction.

With several implants (usually 2-4), the denture gains a secure support, does not slide, does not fall out, chewing is easier, and speech is more natural.

Complete Dentures on Implants

When a patient has no teeth, after placing 4 implants the denture gains support and becomes much more stable. The patient can still easily remove and clean it, but when in the mouth the denture sits firmly and without movement.

Skeletal Dentures on Implants

A skeletal denture differs from a complete acrylic denture on implants in that it has a metal base (skeleton) that is not visible, but gives the denture additional strength and allows the denture to be thinner and more comfortable. Acrylic can be reduced on the palate and cheeks, which is especially significant for easier patient adaptation.

How the Prosthetic Connection to Implants Works

The denture is actually attached to the implants using attachments = these are small precision snaps. The connection works on the principle of a snap fastener. When a patient has no teeth, it is optimal to place 4 implants and attachments are placed on them.

The male part of the snap is located on the implant, while the female part is in the denture itself. In a simple way (on the principle of a snap fastener), the denture is “snapped” into the mouth, sits stably, and yet is removable and easy to maintain.
